  • Lucas Oil unifying short course off-road

    http://www.racer.com/lucas-oil-off-r...acing-platform

Going to take a couple of years for a full season it appears, but finally this sport can get back on track. I largely stopped watching because two series were just too much.

TORC announced a couple days back that they won't host any races this year.

First race with mixed Midwest/West Coast Pro2 rules last weekend: https://racer.com/2019/03/18/new-era...f-and-running/

I dropped CBS Sports off cable to save some money, now I kinda regret that. A unified short course series is something I do want to watch, and something that I think can grow.

Well, so much for that: http://www.lucasoiloffroad.com/news/...-course-league

A new organization called, almost unbelievably, "Championship Off-Road" (https://www.barkriveroffroad.com/ has info) is stepping in for the Midwest tracks. At this point, I'm at a loss. I don't know whether it's an IRL/CART situation where the foundation tracks in Crandon and Bark River think their events are worth more than the Lucas schedule, or it's simply that the Southwest guys don't want to haul to Midwest and vice-versa, but it's doing no one any good. There's no reason for there not to be one championship, so...what the hell?

Midwest teams use cheaper, less pwoerful 410ci spec engines.

Well, now LOORS is dead. https://racer.com/2020/11/13/lucas-o...-discontinued/

COR is still trucking along with a 6 weekend schedule next year, all in the old stronghold of the upper Midwest. Wonder if they'll end up adding some of the western tracks now that LOORS is done for. They could probably go to the track in Missouri without stretching their teams too much.
