The first thing I thought of when I saw the clip was when I raced karts with a club in the late 90's that would a few times a year run a full size car road course. Once there was a big crash with 3-4 karts upside down at high speed, a complete yardsale spread across the backstretch. The race went red, obviously, and the others that made it back to the pits were asked how they got through it. One responded: "We just drove around the bodies".

I can’t believe at the end of the day when Rossi was looking at the films of that and how close he came to plowing that bike, he didn’t say to himself “ well I’ve done quite a lot in this sport and what’s the point of taking risks like that anymore. I think I’ll just buy an island and drink piña colada‘s for the rest of my days!”
