  • Red Flag for...

    mandatory front tire change! Danny Eslick lost the front end and slid down the straight @ 175 mph. He said this was the 4th time he's lost the front end there. Dunlop got with race officials and the decision was made to stop the race and have everyone change fronts.

    BTW - after his slide, Eslick got back on the bike and drove it back to the pits. While the crew worked on the bike, he went back to the hauler and changed leathers. Came back to the pits, got on the bike and went back out into the race!

        UNBELIEVABLE!!! :tsk:

        SPEED is switching over to cover the NCWTS qualifying - no more live coverage from Daytona. :mad:

        The motorcycle board I'm on is now officially in major meltdown mode!

          Did they go back to racing? While I was watching, they were just standing around looking at each other, in that case, I can't blame Speed for dumping that.

            Race was restarted (no live coverage) but they shortened it to 15 laps to go from the restart. I won't spoil it for you, but there was some amazing **** that went on during the red that affected the finish. Speed is going to show the finish tonight @ 8:00 pm (PST) followed by the two SuperBike races. The 200 is scheduled for a replay on Wed @ 9:00 am (PST).

              What was wrong with the tires? I was tuned in turning the red flag period. They showed a replay of the wrecck and it looked like the tire and or wheel seized up. Or did the front suspension collapse.
              You can be a critical fan without being a Critic... Or can you? Quit your b'tchn and enjoy the racing :D

                  Not sure I'd wanna be running 190+ mph on tires that are chunking like this (especially when you only have two of them):

                  I think Dunlop made the right move (mandatory tire change), but the way it was handled was poor. They went with a different compound but didn't have any tires mounted - thus the long red flag delay.

                        @tweezer -

                        Did you happen to catch that last lap crash coming to the finish line?

                        Here's what Dane Westby's crew chief had to say afterward:

                          yeah i saw that last lap crash, i am surprised wrecks like that dont happen more often at daytona. those guys are always rubbing elbows.

                          i cant remember which daytona 200 it was but 2 riders where right next to each other in one of the daytona turns & one of riders reach over & tapped the arm of the other rider. it was amazing to see how close those guys get on the banks of daytona.

                            The trained monkeys in charge of ISC weren't satisfied with ruining the 24 Hours of Daytona with the DP monstrosities, they now are royally screwing up the Daytona 200. I watched the race and CF would be charitable.
