Lots of rumors going around that the CEO is mixed up with Russian Mob money, possibly laundering for them. Also, when they lost the logo case they were required to disclose all of their financials. This might be a Hail Mary to try to avoid that. Either way, I feel bad for HAAS.

I don't feel bad for Haas at all, Williams was smart to turn down their sponsorship offer.

Williams didn't "turn them down," though. Claire had a dinner meeting with the Rich CEO scheduled at COTA to finalize the contract but he didn't show up (literally stood her up) because he talked to Steiner in the paddock who low-balled them on the sponsorship money.

He never even called Williams to cancel or explain.
Ah interesting, that's different from what I read about it.

I was initially really excited about the deal (mostly because I love the black-and-gold livery). But the more I read about this Storey guy and his unethical way of doing business the less enthusiastic I became.

Statement from the shareholders of Rich Energy:

“Clearly the rogue actions of one individual have caused great embarrassment. We are in the process of legally removing the individual from all executive responsibilities."

"Bye Bye Beardie" would be the NY Post headline.

This thing is going to be more entertaining that I could have imagined.

Now William Storey (the beard guy) says the attempt to oust him has failed, that the group which released a statement about staying with Haas F1 are "minority shareholders" and that he has control of the company's assets as well as the support of "key stakeholders".

                    https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/r...tweet/4492868/

Storey's story contains a lot of language that can be interpreted various ways. For one, a group of "minority shareholders" can control a majority of the shares.

Haas came in at 50% of what Williams was asking from what I remember.
