Excellent article by Glen Crompton of www.pitpass.com. Well worth the read.

Bemoaning the lack of overtaking goes back to the earliest days of my F1 writing," writes Glen Crompton..

Direct linky to article no worky, but very good read.

I am also slowly beginning to believe that open wheel salvation might indeed require ditching all wings and requiring longer-lasting rubber.

Perhaps if race cars were more like their road car bretheren in those aspects, they might be able to occassionally pass each other.

I wish something would be done to bring back the racing. Then we would see just how good of "racers" these "best drivers in the world" truly are.
Not trying to start a battle. I love to watch F1. Even when it's boring.

It's funny to think that the involvement of big corporations in F1 may actually drive a return to a better show.

The past few years have been excellent, apart from a few where Ferrari / Schumi made it boring. Those that think the past offered up some sort of passing nirvana and sporting orgy probably didn't watch those races, they just read about them on the internet.

2010 had more passes than any season since 1988. Some races were clunkers, some were great, kinda like most every year.

                Different strokes, I guess.

If you really crave lots of overtaking you should be watching NASCAR. So much overtaking there that you really can't keep track of it. Guys go a lap down and are suddenly, inexplicably back in the top 10. Pretty exciting stuff. Maybe make F1 races 500 milers. That would sort some things out.
