In the fifties, sixties and early seventies there were two midget assosiations running in So. Cal besides USAC. I'm trying to remember which one was non-Offy. Was it the URL?

    URA - United Racing Association

    URA was revived in 1970-71.

And there was USRC (United States Racing Club), run by Lou Stoltze that ran from 1968 into the early 80's.

JThur1 is right on the money. When they revived the URA, they usually ran at Ascot on the quarter mile. There were some epic battles between Rick Goudy in the Cumberworth Offy and Tommy Astone, Jr. in one of the Len Faas, Jr., King-O-Lawn cars. As for the USRC, it was a great, fun organization run by the before-mentioned Lou Stolze who had a son, Dave who raced, quite successfully, and the very gentlemanly, Lowell Stolze (no relation) who handled publicity very, very well. Their home base in the early 70's was the now defunct El Toro Speedway and it helped launch the careers of super-star midget drivers, Danny "Kid" Caruthers, Bobby Olivero, Danny McKnight, Tony Simon and later after El Toro closed, the one and only, Ron "Sleepy" Tripp, among others too many to mention. USRC eventually gave way to the USAC Western States Midget Division.
