Could Chet Filip and David Hobbs be added to the list? And Steve Kinser?

They all ran at least one NASCAR race.

If I'm right (and I think you were on the same track), yes. Might as well throw Jimmy Clark in there too

And Al Jr and Sneva? Plus the odd Allison and Yarborough? But no Petty...nor Elliott...

And those that nearly did it include Curtis Turner, Neil Bonnett and Bruce Jacobi...Bill Holland was too early...Dick Rathmann ditto...

I am beginning to think you know the answer.

I'll bite. These are drivers who competed on the high banks of Daytona.

A bit more...after all, JD McDuffie competed at Daytona but would not count.

I believe that Dick Rathman and Tim Richmond are at the top of Open Wheel drivers who went Stock car racing for NASCAR wins.

                        Hey Ensign14,

Blackie Watt, Gerrge Tit, Bubba Farr, Friday Hassler, Soapy Castles, Bunkie Blackburn and Gober Sosebee also raced at Daytona but in spite of their best efforts they never made it to Daytona North.

Dick, did you mean George Tet, the racing florist from Long Island, aka Tetsio Futchiami?

                            Dwcremax,

I don't know about the flower part but that must be the guy. The 1961 Daytona 500 sure didn't come up roses for Georgie boy, he started 55th and finished 51st, only lasted 24 laps.

Dick; I am originally from Long Island and George Tet was a top area modified driver back in the 50's and 60's. Over his head at Daytona but real good in the local modifieds.
