  • Jochen Rindt Biographies

For those of you who are familiar with any of the biographies of Jochen Rindt, can you advise which ones (if any) include discussion of his two Indianapolis 500 starts.

"Uncrowned King" was a pretty damn good book. Try to find it somewhere. I read that several years ago and do not have it. I think I checked it out at the Chula Vista library because funds were tight. To me, Rindt was The Man. A Racer's Racer. We just lost Tambay. These were real Men. What an era and I got to see some of it as a little kid. I got to go to Dijon and see real men tame beasts.

Did “Uncrowned King” cover Rindt’s Indianapolis 500 experience?

        Yes - chapter 8.
"An emphasis was placed on drivers with road racing backgrounds which meant drivers from open wheel, oval track racing were at a disadvantage. That led Tony George to create the IRL." -Indy Review 1996

There is a memorial I walk by on the way to the pits at Nürburgring.
