RIP Johnny Capels

Dang. The Grim Reaper is busy lately, Johnny Capels has passed away.

Got to spend time with him when he was the USAC head man, liked his stories very much. Mechanic on the Vels Super Team, owner of Pancho Carter's Dirt Car in the late 70's and the list goes on.

Interesting career he had for sure.

Was quite a handy driver, too (8th at the Knoxville Nationals in '67, and won a USAC Sprint car race the next year). RIP.

RIP JC. Interesting guy had a very diverse career in racing. Had a friend who crewed for him on Rutherfords car in mid 80’s. Always spoke very highly of Johnny
