When I was in high school in the late '80s one of my friends had a black '67 Cougar, like this one. I've always liked these earlier models more than the '69-'70 models. The earlier ones had cleaner lines.

My best friend's little brother had a '72 small-block Nova; another friend had a 1970 Chevelle SS396, and for a while my senior year, I dated a girl who had a 1973 small-block Camaro. I think those of us that were teenagers in the late '80s were probably the last bunch who could easily pick up those late '60s-early '70s musclecars at a price your typical kid could afford with a part-time burger-flipper job. That was when the prices were really starting to escalate big-time. When it came time for me to get my first car, my mom balked at letting me get a nice little '69 Camaro SS350 that I had found for sale; it would have had to go on her insurance, and no way was she going to let me spend $4500 on a 20-year-old Chevy, she said....
