    Don't know if anybody here is old enough to have seen those Pontiacs race. Pontiac had a sound like no other car racing then. It was very deep sounding. There is a recording on a Charlotte race, and on it you can hear that different sound as the cars go by.

    Thanks for posting, 1963 was the first race I saw at the mile.

      I saw Paul Goldsmith race that Pontiac a couple of times at Illiana Speedway. Absolutely beautiful car. Sounded great too but the Hemis a few years later made me forget the Pontiac sound.

        You said you seen races at Illiana, so, I assume you are in the Chicago area.

            Used to watch the modifieds race on the qtr mile dirt track in the early 60's as well.
