Which reminds me I need to make some updates. Powers 2018 car is preserved and sitting in the HOF right now. Penske owned mind you.

I really need to track down the 2012 winner. Next to nothing is known about it. Presumably the Tub is being used by CGR.

The 2014 winner also worries me. After it was pretty badly wrecked at Pocono.

Thank you. Any word if the 1976 McLaren will be state side anytime soon?

That car has been an bit of an enigma. Not sure how it ended in Korea where it did. But it is mounted at an angle on a display stand in a large museum building.

I wonder if McLaren has ever had an interest in purchasing these cars? Definitely a company that values their heritage.

IIRC, when the 1974 winner was up for auction, they bid on it, but they did not win.

Many years ago at one of the Goodwood Festival of Speeds I saw a 1975 Gatorade M16 being parked within the McLaren corner ot the grounds. For a long time there was the rumour that Ron Dennis had said that he wanted to buy back every McLaren single seater still in private hands. Dennis is gone by now so I still don't know if they are still on that mission, should it have been true. If they bought the '74 winner, that's likely the only one they can get back. I don't see IMS Museum letting their only Penske entered winner go but maybe, maybe that '76 winner could be obtained somehow?

Here is a quick-look table, based on PaddockMoose's site. Did I get it right?

I have a suggestion in to Doug Boles that victory celebrations be moved to behind the Pagoda (with time given for fans to get there). He has thought about it before. I am thinking that after the award ceremony, the winning car would be retired to the museum and pushed there down Hulman Boulevard by the team. The engine can be removed and kept in use racing so as to not interfere with the engine lease program. When retired, it could be restored to the winning car. The league will supply an identical replacement chassis to the winning team. This way, the Hall of Fame is maintained and the historic cars are all saved. Since many owners like to keep the winning cars, this would have to be written into the Indy 500 entry rule book or contracts.

The 1975 Gatorade M16 is about a foot away from me currently. It has been on loan here for the past few months.

Parnelli Jones hasn't owned the 1970 and 1971 winners for quite a while. They are also about a foot away from me currently.

OK I noted it with a question mark and a statement that you know who owns it.
