  • Hey, Seabiscuit The Movie Sequel

I haven't seen a movie since John Wayne died, but as I understand it the movie Seabiscuit was about a horse, not a jockey.

There fore a sequel, only about a race car, could have only one title, NOVI!

Just think of the cast of characters you would need, Lew Welch, Rex Mays, The Duke of Nalon, Ralph FepburnHerb Ardinger,Chet Miller, Paul Russo, Tony Bettenhausen, Bill Cheesebourg, Jim Hurtibuse and Bobb Unser to name a few.

Think of the stories you would have to tell the story of the origination, where the name came from the story of a piece fo wood under the throttle so Hepburn could handle the powerful brute, the heartbreak of Hepburn's return from retirement, The Duke's firey carsh.

Welch's struggle for money, Granitelli buys the Novis, Bobby Unser coming thrugh the Sachs- MacDonald fire.

My God there is a 16 chapter serial, like the Westerns of old, with plenty of opportunites for love, romance, comedy, tears, heartbreak with a few successes tossed in for good measure.

The story of an all time winner, that never won a race, with the Premiere at the Imdianapolis Motor Speedway, outdoors during the month of May, by invitation only.

Top billings is a race car, with a supporting cast of the greatest list of actors ever in one movie.

Now there is movie I would buy a ticket to attend.

Movie about a race car ??? How about Basement Bessie...and you "older" midget fans might remember the Golden Arrow Offy.

There is another story about midget race cars. Jimmie Davies had a # 2 midget stolen from him and could never locate it until one day the newspapers showed a driver losing his life in a midget that was flipping...it was Davies car, and he found it !. aXe knows more about thgis one.

Then again we could have a movie about Saturday night race track promoters...The question is who would play the parts of the promoters... Most of the qualified guys are not arround but they could have used...Dillinger...Capone...Jeffy Dahmer...The Menendez Bros. (who are orphans) and ran two tracks..one dirt and the other pavement...and Charles Manson to play the promoters.

Yes, the movie "Novi" would be a good story to tell. It would perhaps indeed be best for a mini-series (a high quality one like From The Earth To The Moon) since it is a story that lasts many years.

A similar mini-series story would perhaps be the story of Millers vs. Duesenbergs. I'd call that movie or series "Duesy."

Maybe the Novi story could be condensed into a single movie some way. It would be great to have that premier at Indy, outdoors. Maybe a large screen could be hoisted on the back of the Pagoda, with lawn chairs for everyone to watch. Or actually, maybe the screen could be hung from the front of the Pagoda and people could sit in the grandstands for the premier, with additional chairs placed out on the track in front of the Pagoda.

Hey, and if this is chosen for a movie some day, I hope they'll include a "scene" I wrote telling the story of my dad's first experience of the Novi...

"Back in the 40's or 50's my dad was walking along the backstretch outside the Speedway, below the wall where he couldn't see, as cars were racing by. Suddenly a ROAR went by and about blew his eardrums out. He says he almost hit the ground for cover. He had never heard anything like that before. It turned out to be a NOVI."

Dick, be sure to cast Tuesday Weld and Angie Dickinson in there somewhere.

              Hey Knockoff,

I had my heart set on Raquel Welch and Rita Hayworth, with me as a standin for the heavy "love scenes".

I can see a problem with medical insurance though.

Dick, I mentioned Angie cause Gilbert had some "snap shots" of her in his desk drawer at the shop.

If rigor mortis sets in, it may take some time to get the coffin lid shut.
