I kind of like the mystery more than if I had one of those notarized Certificates of Authenticity.

I look at it this way, it's the same make/model(can you say that about a brick?) It's good enough for me, especially since it was found in Central Indiana.

BSJRacing there are a lot more surviving Culver bricks that were not used at IMS like you found than there are that were used there. Culver bricks were used all around the Midwest. They were not made especially for the Speedway. They just bought what was available at the best price. One well known "collector" ran across a supply of supposed "Speedway" bricks just like yours that had never been near IMS. He sold them for many years at collector shows as the real deal. Only if you dug it up yourself at IMS (or they gave it to you) can you be sure that your Culver brick is an IMS brick. Many (if not most) of the "IMS" bricks that change hands among collectors were never used at the racetrack.

Since the track was torn down before I was born I didn't really have any vivid memories, outside of the speedway, my other Indiana racing memories were watching USAC midgets in the 70's...here and yes, I made a point of driving by on my way to Turkey Run.

I didn't know about the track in Boswell..thanks for the link. Haven't been thru Boswell for a long time. Always liked that part of the state -- flatlands as far as you can see. Think i'd like to see mods there, but it will have to be next yr.

No problem Eagle, my dad took me there a few times back when they still ran midgets there. It was either Pancho or Johnny Parsons who took a wild ride one time and caught the catch fencing just right, he rolled that midget up in the fence like it was the key opening a sardine can. it was funny watching them unroll the car and the fence.

Still can't believe I was unaware of that place. It would have been just an easy hour and 1/2 drive up 41 to get there for me to see the things you saw.
