now that I look at these pics again I think those are rollbars on those cars!
you gotta wonder though was it there to protect the steering column or the drivers since the drivers aren't even strapped in
either way, it apparently took about 40 years for anyone to consider putting a simple roll hoop on an open wheel race car even though the idea was already out there!
