  • fun 500 marketing idea for TFers who live in small towns

Every month in my small town library there's a seasonal display rotated in the front entrance. I volunteered to put on an Indy 500/racing display for the month of May and they've got me inked in. Featured will be grandfather's Cromwell helmet from the '30s, my dad's 70's style driving outfit, a big piece of a crashed Target car (1997), 500 programs, tickets, postcards, yearbooks, Speed Age, Sports Illustrated, etc. I'll post a pic here when it's done. My own private "Mayberry" is New Glarus, WI where I park my pickup anywhere with the windows open, my keys in the igntion, and my fishing pole and dog in the back.....
"Charging a man with murder here was like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500."- Capt. Willard, Apocolypse Now
"Ain't nuthin' like [being with a woman], 'cept maybe the Indy 500."- Bunny, Platoon
"To alcohol! The cause of- and solution to- all of life's problems."- Homer J. Simpson

That's cool! I've seen this done in Branch Libraries of larger towns, too.
There's really no such thing as Gary the Moose, Sybil.
