I'm pretty sure, but if TT's get rained out, then Robby Gordon goes home, right? Kinda sucks, especially when some others, due to "owner points" from last year, even though they were not in the car, last year, get into the show.

Qualifying Cancelled? so what happens if qualifying is cancelled?
If it is the first 5 races of the season, the previous season OWNERS points are used:
#1) - Previous season Owner Points [position 1-35]
#2) - Race winners from the previous and current season not already in the field
#3) - Past Nextel Cup Champions not in by 1 or 2
#4) - Current season Owner Points [Top 35][not in by rules 1-3]
#5) - Current season race attempts ties broken by current owners points standings
(if the first race of season, would be race attempts from the previous season)
But I could be wrong.DVR . . . . Life is too short to watch commercials.

Here's who Robby has to beat out to get in the field. I think it's pretty safe to say he'll be in the race on Sunday.
#00-Hermie Sadler
#4-Scott Wimmer
#7-Robby Gordon
#10-Scott Riggs
#32-Travis Kvapil
#34-Chad Caffin
#37-Mike Skinner
#51-Mike Garvey
#61-Kevin Lepage
#78-Kenny Wallace
#89-Morgan Shepherd
#92-Chad Blount
#95-Stanton Barrett
#96-Terry Labonte [CH]
[CH] has champ prov to use if needed

Thanks, Lee Roy. I found this, also, on Jayski:
If qualifying is rained out, the making the race would be: #'s 96 [past champ], 7,10 [current top-35 owners points], then 61,4,32,00,95 [2006 race attempts, ties broken by owners points position]
missing the race would be #'s: 34,78,89,92,74,37,51

That's great. I'm glad to see he'll make the race if qualifying is rained out. He's been doing great this year and it would be a shame to have circumstances beyond his control give him a setback.
After this week the starting line-up for races will start with the current owners points, and Robby's doing quite well in this year's points.DVR . . . . Life is too short to watch commercials.

I've always been annoyed by that rule (using the previous year's points). I understand why they have it, but I think they could get away with using it only for the first three races, not five. Three races should be enough to establish, at least minimally, who's who in any given year.
Nascar didn't want to give up any pieces of the pie or prevent new teams from entering, yet they had to stop the franchise talk. So they gave a very small carrot to the teams by letting participation in one year be of some franchise-style benefit in the next year. It's not much since after five races it's just the new years points anyway, but it's something.
If they only used three races as the criteria the teams would realize they'd been given nothing and would still be campaiging for some salable equity in Nascar.Got to watch out for those Libertarians - they want to take over the government and leave everyone alone!
