  • Anyone miss Ken Squire?

Like Paul Page and the Indy 500.. Squire's voice reminds me of Daytona.. Its not the same without him..

As non politically correct and un IndyCar friendly as it is, it's the truth. "

I loved his "cameo appearance" in Stroker Ace - his comment as Stroker walked away was so out of character.

I always liked him at Daytona. He was the voice on CBS for a long time. He had a true passion for Nascar.

Squire was OK once they moved him to the host position, and handed the mic over to Mike Joy. He was ok in early days, but not fast enough at the end.

But in all reality, NASCAR fans should thank Ken up and down for putting his entire broadcasting career on the line by somehow convincing the New York CBS suits that the Daytona 500 could work on live TV. Had the '79 race not been a wild one, Ken would have been fired the next day, and NASCAR would have not had that boost in television popularity.
