Funny you should mention it, while driving the other night a street Aerocoupe passed me by, the paint was faded and the owner had big ugly wheels and tires on it, not to mention painted on racing stripes. Aren't those cars rare?

Mine were the 1970s Superbird and Daytona Charger. Not as many people were following NASCAR in Indy back then but I think they must have sold half the required sales to qualify for use in NASCAR in Central Indiana... they were all over the place there for a few years before everybody started mothballing them.

In the early 80's there was one Superbird driven around town by a kid, he lifted it up with air shocks to clear big drag tires. Someone in Ft Bragg drove a well-worn Torino Talladega as a daily driver. I just knew those cars were going to be worth something.

Yesterday I saw a '66 Dodge Charger for sale at a used car lot for $4000...

The modifieds are the closest thing NASCAR has to a real race car....and they all look alike.

They have started to make a little progress in getting the mods to look a little different. For most of the 80s & 90s they were all Cavaliers, but now they have 4 or 5 different bodies Not all cookie cutter bodies either.

              And no headlight decals

The Chevy Monte Carlos from about '86 or '87. They had the high looking roof, tall looking windshield. Still had "holes" where the headlights would go. It looked like a race car.

I walked into Grant King's shop one day (round `73) and he was building Modifieds for someone up in New England that were based on the AMC Gremlin... he told me he was doing it on spec...

However I guess it turned out okay for him cause I later learned he made a ton of them.

Anyone here have a pic of Fireball's '62 Pontiac? It gets my vote.
