Mine were the 1970s Superbird and Daytona Charger. Not as many people were following NASCAR in Indy back then but I think they must have sold half the required sales to qualify for use in NASCAR in Central Indiana... they were all over the place there for a few years before everybody started mothballing them.

In the early 80's there was one Superbird driven around town by a kid, he lifted it up with air shocks to clear big drag tires. Someone in Ft Bragg drove a well-worn Torino Talladega as a daily driver. I just knew those cars were going to be worth something.
Yesterday I saw a '66 Dodge Charger for sale at a used car lot for $4000...

The modifieds are the closest thing NASCAR has to a real race car....and they all look alike."It's not the split, it's not the lack of marketing, it's not the days the races run on, it's the product." Tommy Kendall

However I guess it turned out okay for him cause I later learned he made a ton of them.

"I think of Indianapolis every day of the year, every hour of the day, and when I sleep, too. Everything I ever wanted in my life, I found inside the walls of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I love it all, from the first to the last day in May. The moment that race starts is always the greatest moment of my life, and the day I win that race, it will be as if my life has ended. There is nothing more I could want out of life."
