  • Do Crown Royal, Sharpie and Irwin get rebates?

With Kenny Wallace cruising around at the back of the pack because of Jack(off) Roush's hissy fit, are these folks getting back any of the good money they paid for their sponsorship?

    They should.

      Why should they?

And you have information that they WANTED Busch carrying their logos right after his 'incident'? I kind of doubt it myself, but I'll bow to your knowledge if you have it.

Last time I checked, the expectation when sponsoring a race car is that the team make every effort to run as good as possible. Clearly the Roush made decisions that did not allow the 97 team to perform at the highest level. Yet he expects these sponsors to PAY at the highest level.

That does not seem fair to me. Sounds to me like these sponsors got screwed, along with race fans.

As far as whether or not these sponsors wanted Kurt to wear their logos.... they didn't mind all the other times Kurt got in trouble.... why worry now? It became clear very early this week that there was no alcohol involved in the traffic incident, so that got Crown Royal off the hook. Nobody seemed to mind when Kurt acted the fool before.

That's true. However, why put up with the fool when he is leaving? Somehow, I think Roush knew his sponsors were on board when he made this move.

I've always kind of liked Kurt because of his on-track abilities, but he has no doubt made life difficult for his handlers and sponsors from time to time. When you do that and win, it is ok. But, when you do that, are already eliminated from winning the title and are leaving the team, sponsors are not likely going to want to deal with you.

It appears he got worse PR than he deserved in this thing, but Roush and his sponsors backed him when he deserved the flack. It is unlikely they were unhappy with the decision.

My guess is the sponsors enjoyed having the personable Kenny Wallace in their car this weekend.....................

How much exposure do you think they got with Kenny sitting in that drivers suit for an hour on the Victory Lane show? That show has also been replayed 3-4 times already this week...........I'm sure they're pretty happy right now.........

They wanted someone with a chance and that's not Wallace and there remains plently of doubt as to whether it's McMurray, either.

That show would need to be replayed 100 times to get the same exposure as the actual RACE.... where the 97 car was nowhere to be seen.

Actually, Lorenzo, I would think that Sharpie, and the rest were probably among the first ones Jack contacted regarding this incident. They are probably quite impressed with his handling of the situation. Put your brain in gear for a sec...do you really think anyone came out of this with any long term damage? Quite the opposite. This has all the earmarks of an ABC Movie of the Week comeback story.
Now, had this happened in the one of the lesser series like the IRL or CCWS, the damage would also be negligible since we'd read about it on page 37 of the want ads, right below a litter of kittens being given away to a good home.
                      Rebate indeed! lol

I am a NASCAR fan. Call me when any of those Speed Channel NASCAR shows get a 4.2 rating.
