Given the big drop in the number of people (at least here in the USA) paying attention to auto racing; along with the lack of public stature of today's racing heroes compared to the racing heroes of the 60's, 70's, and 80's, I can't see where this effort is going to make enough money to pay for itself.

But then, I'm just an internet key-board jockey. So there is a distinct possibility that I could be wrong.

While I think it'd be cool, I'd also opine a significant probability to become another TRAC.

Great minds think alike. I mentioned TRAC in post #27. I don't believe it is easy to create a racing series out of whole cloth.

This makes no sense to me. Francis is already cleaning up against old drivers in Trans-Am and I thought SRX was for older/retired drivers. What the hell use is this series going to be if some kid no one's heard of starts beating up on them?

Ernie Francis Jr., a seven-time champion in the Trans-Am Series and member of NASCAR's Drive for Diversity, joins the Superstar Racing Experience.

Why? He’s a racer. A successful driver from a totally different series which is good.

I explained why in my post. It defeats the idea of the oldtimers series to bring in up-and-coming racers with no name recognition.

From the July 13 AP story linked earlier in the thread:
Evernham’s dream list includes Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Jimmie Johnson, Gordon, Juan Pablo Montoya, Paul Tracy and short track racers and up-and-comers who have proven their skills but can’t get a break.
Not an "oldtimers' series. Badass young guns, and badass veterans.

One part IROC, one part Fastmasters. Should be fun.

Ah, I didn't remember that part. I don't like the idea as much but I guess it is what they intended.

SRX plans to have a "ringer car" with top-name drivers who could only do a one-off like a Chase Elliott, and a "Balboa car" for a local champ.
