Nascar is partnering with Equilottery to develop a lottery game based on race results. You buy a lottery ticket with three drivers on it and you can win up to $50K depending on how the drivers finish.

Once again Nascar marketing leaves Indycar in the dust. I'm not a gambler but you'd have to be blind (or an old Indycar fan) to not recognize that gambling is exploding in this country.

Hmm...will this arrangement pass muster in many state lotteries?
So while Equilotteries has signed deals with Major League Baseball, IGT, and Penn National Gaming, they haven't actually brought any of them to market yet, but will soon.

The first offering from EquiLottery Games, a live horse racing lottery game called Win Place Show, is tentatively set to launch in August of 2020 through the Kentucky Lottery after its scheduled April launch was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will mark the first ever daily lottery game based on the results of a live sporting event in the U.S.
        More on how it works.

Yep. And this is a huge step/win for NASCAR.

Agreed. This kind of stuff will be all over sports soon. Smart move getting ahead of it.

Wasn't sure which thread to post this link in so I'm posting it twice. NASCAR has jumped on a huge opportunity to get their product on TV while they have virtually no competition. That they are having three races while Indycar cancels two races is brutal. Opportunity doesn't knock twice.

What is even more brutal is that NASCAR got their signature event in. The signature event for Indy Car is delayed and when it does come around, I wonder what other stories (attendance, distancing, etc) will overshadow the race itself.

The only reason that NASCAR is operating is to collect $15 or $20 million in TV money twice a week. There's no broader strategic vision to operate in a vacuum. The likelihood that NASCAR would put up $4 or $5 million in purse money twice a week without income to cover it, or that a reasonable field would appear without that substantial purse and guaranteed money, is approximately zero.

That is what makes it possible but it isn’t the reason. Certainly not the only reason.

IndyCar is missing a great opportunity.

Does Indycar get enough in TV money outside of Indy to make it worthwhile to race in front of empty grandstands? Also, Indycar’s early season races are street courses which take many weeks to setup. Not worth it with no fans.

Roger Penske is smart. Having no season could lead to the end of many teams.
