  • Texas Terry continues turn-around

...going into Darlington, Terry Labonte now has a string of 30 races without a DNF and is 2nd only to Michael Waltrip who ended his streak at Bristol with 33.

Terry is now 12th in points, moving up another position after his 11th place finish at Bristol.

Obviously Terry and Jim Long are starting to really work well together and there biggest improvement outside of the DNF's has been qualifying, where they continued to do well Friday at Darlington by qualifying 3rd for the Southern 500.

It's starting to be fun again being a Terry Labonte fan.

I'll be rooting for him in the final 50 laps. Can't think of a more fitting winner for the final Labor Day classic.

Congratulations to Terry and his team.

Great race, can't we have a Final Southern 500 on Labor Day Weekend every year?

Only fitting that someone that races close to half of the Southern 500 take the last one. Congrats to Texas Terry.

Looks like he had one of the Penske Indy Car crews at the end.

....they did an outstanding job on pit-stops today, especially at the end when it counted!!

And if 1999 was a long time to wait for Terry, his crew chief had been waiting since 1997...job done. Bravo.

It also looked like they were lucky the fence did not fail - did you notice the post movement? It will be a very sad day in Darlington if a car were to get into the fence. I have heard they are improving by adding lights - maybe a few $$$ should go int a new safety fence before something happens.

...with the Victory, Terry has now moved up another position to 11th in the standings, and only trails Tony Stewart by 1 point for 10th.

Also makes 31 consecutive races without a DNF, which will now put him only 2 races away from taking the record from Michael Waltrip who lost his streak at Bristol at 33.

                        I'm sorry, Terry!!!

I thought you might not ever win another race, but I am glad to be proven wrong. A great win...

                            >>>...There was at least one person at Darlington Raceway on Sunday who wasn't surprised Terry Labonte ended a 156-race winless streak with a victory in the Southern 500.

"I look at him like a fine wine, he just gets better with age," said Bobby Labonte.
