After watching Rusty's, ahh, underwhelming 2003 season, I wouldn't be surprised to see an ABC schedule for Hornish in 2004, with Hornish teaming with Newman in 2005.
Rusty seems too proud to get his butt handed to him for too long.
I could see Rusty's Farewell Tour in 2004.
Makes sense, especially if Penske can offer the "500" one-off.
I've seen lots of Penske saying they'll only run two cars in 2004 in the IRL; but they haven't been asked about the Indy 500, it seems....http://motorsportsblog.blogspot.com/

I don't know where he'll go in NASCAR and I don't care. It makes no difference to me whether he drives a fake Ford, a fake Chevy, a fake Pontiac or a fake Dodge. Maybe in a couple of years, he can drive a fake Toyota. Oh goody.
I'll be watching someone else drive a race car.Proud to be a complainer.

I don't care! If he does go to Neckcup I'm done following him! I tried with TS, but even he hasn't been able to keep my attention. Slow, plodding, tin cans are borring to watch!!! BTW, that doesn't mean that I won't like Sam anymore. I will still like him and consider him the best driver in America today! I just don't like the tin tops!Last edited by BuckeyeDave; 08-20-2003, 08:29 PM.The important thing in a military operation is victory, not persistence. Sun Tzu - The Art of War

If Sam goes NASCAR, I won't follow him. In fact, I'm disappointed that I was rooting for him to win.
1. I do not want him to win another IRL race.
2. I do not want him to win another IRL championship.
3. I do want Scott Sharp to win another race so Sam won't be the alltime winningist driver when he leaves.
4. I do want TK, or HC, or GD, or AUJ to win the championship. I say no to Sam and no to Scott Dixon (since he might leave as well).

It's funny how the golden boy is no longer golden. Hard not to appreciate the irony in the fact that Hornish has been gushed over beyond belief while a guy like Scott Sharp is villified at every turn. One guy "sells out" and turns his back on his supporters, the other guy is the prototypical IRL hero.
Where have you gone Scott Sharp? Our league turns it's lonely eyes to you.

I think he'll go to DEI, (a) same sponsor (b) team seems dischuffed with its drivers for the 1 and 30 cars.
But if he goes, I will not support him. I will not support anyone associated with him, or his firstborn, or his wife, or his parents, or anyone called Sam, or anyone called Hornish, or anyone with the initials SH, or anyone who welcomes him to NASCAR, or anyone who used to drive for DEI, or anyone who used to drive single seaters, or anyone who is not American, or anyone who is American, or anyone who used the words 'or dish' in a sentence because it sounds like Hornish, or anyone who drives a car with the number 4 in it somewhere. That'll learn 'im."An emphasis was placed on drivers with road racing backgrounds which meant drivers from open wheel, oval track racing were at a disadvantage. That led Tony George to create the IRL." -Indy Review 1996

Ensign, I'm guessing that you left off the "rolled eyes". We sure are getting a bunch of spoiled six year olds posting these days, aren't we."The older I get, the faster I used to be!"

I think DEI will go with Hmiel, Bill Davis with Wimmer, Morgan McClure with Sauter, and I don't expect any changes for 2004 at Roush, Hendrick, Gibbs, Yates, Evernham or Penske. That would leave the #0, but Leffler would be a logical choice there...
Petree would take him if he's got some cash...

The 30 car is RCR.
And didn't Pennzoil annoucer earlier this year they were dropping DEI, ostensably to concentrate their efforts on keeping Sam in the IRL since #1 DEI car wasn't doing anything noteworthy? Or is my memory playing tricks with me?Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the Keenest of them all?
