  • My Daughter Won't Go

I bought tix to the BY400 for my family but my daughter won't go.

She claims no interest because they go so much slower than Indy cars and that she can't cheer for a winner if Helio Castroneves and Sam Hornish aren't competing.

I'd really like for her to come along but in a way I'm proud that she seems to get it.

Remark from wynspeed right on cue.

I'm going for the chicks, the refreshing beverages, and because its the only race in town.

You should make your daughter go, TD... just so she'll never lose the ability to recognize the difference between NASCAR and Indycar at IMS.

          Teach her our mantra...

My daughters caught on around age 8 also...they make a lot of noise, and cause a little dust, but, they gotta get rid of that boat anchor if they're gonna impress an IndyCar fan.

I finally beat the mighty NASCAR PR machine at our home as well. I don't discourage the guys from watching or liking wahtever they want so the allure of NASCAR Kids, Jeff, Tony and the rest was a tough competitor.

After their frist trip to Indy for practice/Freedom 100 and another trip to Richmond the mold has been set. My eight year old is just infatuated with IndyCar racing and my seven year old is definitely a fan. Sam, Sarah and Buddy are huge hits with the guys among the drivers. They think Ed Carpenter, Aaron Fike and Mark Taylor are pretty cool too.

The little people are the future of our sport. If you want to help IndyCar racing grow then bring kids to the track and let them get a taste. Plant the seed early!

Back on topic - Truthie, take your daughter to the track anyway. NASCAR at Indy is kind of like going to St. Elmo's and getting a burger - might not be the best choice but you can't beat the atmosphere.

My daughter's 19 and is the same way TD. She has absolutely ZERO interest in the "tin tops" but put an Indycar on the track and she'll sit there for HOURS!!!

See, we just gotta break em in early!
                But that's just my opinion!

                  Hey Moderators,

Why do Howards threads about NASCAR get moved from this board but a thread about how kids like the IRL better than NASCAR actually get moved here?

Sorry to be a pain in the butt.

I have a 9 YO son. If you have a decent dowery I wouldn't mind him snaging a lady with those kind of smarts .

Simple, because it is ok to take shots at other series as long as your a Tony fan like TD is. To show pride cause your daughter doesn't want to see a NASCAR race, how pathetic is that?

                        Racefan indeed

Yep. Thread is a NASCAR bash - put it on the NASCAR forum. Thread is NASCAR positive - banish it to the "truth" forum.

Badger gets his jollies coming to an IRL forum and bashing the IRL and he wants to call me pathetic.

                            That is rich.

And this is hardly a Nascar bash thread.

But I also wonder why it was moved. It really had more to do with my daughter wanting to see IRL drivers than anything else.
