Michael Annett has brought sponsorship to Tommy Baldwin Racing. I just thought it was funny, I should say right now that Annett isn't THAT bad and I don't think it will amount to something bad, but I hope others that are worse don't buy their way in Cup and others like maybe Brian Scott wind up with these Buy Rides.

Yeah, that was my bad, at least Annett isn't as bad as some of those guys, and probably wouldn't be any worse than most of the veterans available right now, except for probably Hornish and the before mentioned Brian Scott.I like to talk about Racing & Rant about Commercials, why because they are irritating...Then again so am I.

You just don't seem to see the top 20 rides in Cup going to a EJ Viso or a James Jakes, like they do in some "professional" series. The ride buyers (besides Patrick) tend to be regulated to the backmarker teams. The real teams tend to HIRE the drivers they want, which are usually the best drivers available.
And the great young talented drivers in NASCAR usually don't have to worry about a sugar-daddy paying for their ride. Guys like Larson and Stenhouse and Bayne and Blaney and Logano actually get moved up on merit and get paid to race cars at the top level. What a novel concept! Probably why the talent pool is so deep in Cup and why they always seem to get the best of the best.

Stenhouse's family owns a cattle ranch that often sponsors his cars
Blaney is a third generation racer
Logano never lacked for anything either
All those guys are talented, but let's not kid ourselves and pretend that they would be flipping burgers if they weren't in a race car.

Who said they would be flipping burgers? If 3 of the 4 had stayed in the abyss that is AOW, they'd be tweeting or doing the Harlem Shake or doing whatever talented young AOW American-born drivers do that can't get hired in the Indy Car world without their daddy owning a car for them or the ICS paying a team to run them.
Thing is, Blaney and Stenhouse and Larson have moved up on MERIT. They have won championships at lower levels of American racing and are now at the pinnacle of American racing (or close to it, in Blaney's case). You win in AOW? Doesn't mean jack squat. And don't give me the crap about the HS senior who just won the Lights crown. If he doesn't have a check from the ICS to bring, he's nowhere. Same deal with Clauson. Same deal with Newgarden when he got with Fisher as a rookie. Without the ICS funding them, a couple of these guys would probably be hanging out in Homestead this week looking for a Truck ride for 2014.
