  • Anyone else think Regan Smith may break out this year?

He was great at Daytona and he ended '10 pretty decently.

I'd say 5-10 top 10s, maybe a couple top 5s and a top 20 points finish could happen for him this year. The Furniture Row team seems to be getting steadily better.

Not driving for Furniture Row. He might shine at 'Dega or for the summer return to Daytona. Hey IMO he broke through @ Talladega , but ****** didn't agree with me & gave his win to Tony Stewart

They may surprise a few people this year. Regan Smith is a very good driver, they have RCR equipment, and a professional pit crew from Tony Stewart racing. The fact they aren't in NC isn't a hindrance to success, although being a one car team might be. But with the alliances they have a top 20 points finish seems reasonable.

I thought last year was his "breakout year", hence the extra funding, better equipment, better at-the-track team for 2011.

Maybe I'm just ahead of the curve on this.

If I was David Ragan I'd be nervous.

They were talking about the location of the shop recently on the radio and they said many of the races now are actually closer to their shop than the teams in NC and team members tend to stick around longer since they cant pack up their tools and drive three buildings down the street to the next Cup team every time they get up a bug up their Azz.
Not as much incentive to look elsewhere when the next Cup team is two time zones away.

Also every team no matter how small has secrets and their secrets probably stay in house longer

UPS is up at the end of the season. RoushFenway is running Stenhouse & Bayne out of pocket in the Nationwide Series this year.

Team talk is that DR is beyond nervous.

Which may have explained his, shall we say, lapse at the end of the 500.

Ragan adds nothing to the team.

Go back and take a look at his results last season.
Second half, Regan was almost always in the top 15...with several very good finishes.
                        Hes a real deal.

Second half of the season he averaged 22nd instead of 26th. He finished better than 17th four times in 36 starts. He and Bobby Labonte were the only drivers with 36 starts and no top tens.
