I've done it in vegas a few times and it was fun
"Charging a man with murder here was like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500."- Capt. Willard, Apocolypse Now
"Ain't nuthin' like [being with a woman], 'cept maybe the Indy 500."- Bunny, Platoon
"To alcohol! The cause of- and solution to- all of life's problems."- Homer J. Simpson
Wonderful for the kid. And just the greatest to see the Wood Brothers have a (lately too infrequent) moment of glory once again. Going into the 500 we heard a lot about Hendrick and Childress. Their cars had good runs in some cases, but noone mentioned the Wood Brothers more than just as field fillers. Very, very nice to see a part time effort run this well. Whatever else happens to their season, they will wear this victory extremely proudly.
And by the way....as an example of how good the Woods still are at what they do, the winning car is the one which got wadded up on Thursday! Rousch gave them assistance with the repairs, but it was Wingo and the Wood guys who made the decision to repair the crashed car. Just a great example of how strong this team is in subtle ways.
The big question is does this now turn into a full season gig?
I'd say that all depends on funding, as they said on Wind Tunnel tonight - and the fact that Trevor signed up to run the Nationwide Series for points. A lot depends on whether NASCAR will let him change to Cup for those points. If not, then I'd say no - they'll stick with their 17 race schedule they made mention of.
Great story on the Wood Brothers Web Site about the 1976 Daytona 500 and that memorable win by THE SILVER FOX, David Pearson over THE KING, Richard Petty...http://www.woodbrothersracing.com/?page_id=1845 It's the third story on the page...
My major malfunction is...I want the people I love and respect to live forever...The problem is...Life don't work that way...
P.S. Questions, comments, death threats, invitations to a pigs bris, my number is still (317) 809-4483

Found this on Jayski's website:
"Bayne unlikely to run for Sprint Cup points: Daytona 500 winner #21-Trevor Bayne said Monday he's probably not going to attempt to run for the Sprint Cup championship this year. The 20-year-old became the youngest winner in Daytona 500 history Sunday with a surprise victory in NASCAR's biggest race. He's scheduled to run only 17 Cup races this season for the Wood Brothers while he competes for the Nationwide Series title for Roush-Fenway Racing. NASCAR rules this season made drivers pick just one series to collect points, and Bayne chose the second-tier Nationwide Series. He can change his mind, but he would not be given retroactive points for the Daytona 500. NASCAR officials said Monday the win would count toward seeding in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship, but he would not receive any points for Sunday's race. NASCAR this year changed the format for the 12-driver Chase field. The top 10 in points after the 26th race of the season make the Chase, with the final two spots going to drivers with the most wins who aren't already eligible. The drivers would have to be ranked inside the top 20.(Associated Press), the team has added at least one race to it's 2011 schedule, selecting to run at Martinsville in April, the sixth race of the 2011 season.(2-21-2011)
