Wow, this will bring NASCAR all the way up to 70's technology! Amazing. I'm sure they will claim that they invented fuel injection.

This is only interesting to me if they use mechanical port injection with 8" velocity stacks through the hood. Also, I want to see a huge, hairy arm punched through the roof to grab a white shift knob. You can take your "efficiency" back to the Politburo, comrade.

I can see it. The 2012 Daytona 500. On the first lap everybody gets up and screams, "Oh, boy, they are fuel injected."

Y'know, starting the field with pushtrucks would make the show more interesting. I think selfstarting race cars are overrated.

It is about time NASCAR moved into the late 20th Century by finally switching from carburetors to fuel injection.

                            BUT

In typical NASCAR style they have to do it their own way, which is a nice way of saying that they're taking the path of most resistance. There are so many affordable, off the shelf electronic fuel injection systems on the market, why spend the money to have McLaren come up with something bespoke?

                            OR

Seeing how all three manufacturers now have big, honkin' modern V8 engines, why not ditch the purpose-built stuff altogether and return to production based engines? "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday" would mean something again, the cars instantly become more relevant and the fuel injection thing is taken care of.

                            Make too much sense?

                              Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...

Why don't they just race Fred Flinstone cars? That would probably be closer and have more rubbin'.
