    Speed Running Truck Races

    RacingOne Report

Scott Speed will race a limited schedule in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in the No. 46 Morgan-Dollar Motorsports entry.

Speed's No. 46 will carry a Red Bull paint scheme for his NCTS debut at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 7, followed by a second NCTS race at Martinsville Speedway on March 28.

The former Formula One driver will get additional seat time participating in the NCTS open test at Martinsville Speedway on March 12 – 13.

"The reason we went this route is because the truck is the most similar to the COT and it is very sensitive to how the other cars around you, where they are and what they're doing to your car," Speed said. "This is kind of the method behind our madness here."

Speed's foray into NCTS racing is part of a development program aimed at getting the Red Bull driver ready for top-level competition in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. He will continue his run for the championship racing full-time in the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series under the wing of Eddie Sharp Racing.

If the races were on TV, I'd be much more looking forward to "Speed on Dirt".

I wouldn't be surprised if he took Allmendingers place in the Cup car this season.

Yep. Everyone knows that Scott Speed was brought in to eventually take his job. If Speed shows anything soon, that will only make the decision happen quicker.

Its only a matter of when, for AJ. The guy is now 17 out of 39 making races in his career and has a career average finish of 32nd, when he actually does make a race. He was put in a near impossible position, but the guy just hasn't gotten it done. And, it doesn't help when his teammate has made 26 races the past 2 years, and is currently 11th in points.

And, when he does get canned, the question is what IRL team will pick him up? And, does it happen before May, so he can maybe hunt for a Indy 500 ride? Maybe Red Bull would like to get involved with him in the IRL now? Or maybe Red Bull could care less.
IRL 2009: "Cars you can't see, driven by drivers you have never heard of, on a network you don't get"

"I'd hire your grandmother, if she brought a budget"- Bankrupt Indy Car team owner Tyler Tadevic, to Curt Cavin in December, on the tough standards he looks for when "hiring" driver talent.

Rahal-Letterman, provided they don't merge with NHL and become a 3 car team with Graham, Wilson and Hunter-Reay, of course.

          If not RLR, then Panther.
