Didn't have the heart to post this over in Biz... (didn't want to kill the "merger" buzz)... Going over numbers for the WGC Match Play event on Sunday (up 67%, Thank You Tiger) and noticed that the rain delay for the Cali NASCAR event pulled a 6.1 overnight (4.7 mil HH)... granted, that is a slight drop of around 2% from last year... but also consider that is only 87 laps of coverage for a 3 hour booking window.

Probably most people fell asleep before they could change the channel like me."Ninety-two years ago [the Indy 500] was probably like any other race," said 2005 winner Dan Wheldon. "But over time it's just created so many storylines and history for people of our generation that now it's just massive. People value that history and tradition and you just can't take that away."

That's actually pretty impressive for a race that was 2 1/2 hours delayed and then only got in 87 laps and two red flags before the day ended. NASCAR's actually off to a good start this year with the slight increase in Daytona ratings and now pulling this on what was arguably the lousiest day for racing in recent years.
