7 whole cars running at the end ? I sure hope they get a bunch more before they hit the 1.5 mile tracks, 7 cars spread out around a mile and half is going to look pretty sad form the stands or TV.

Like it or not it seems like USAC pushed this change of cars over so quickly so the could get some dates with NASCAR they missed that teams don't have the resources to switch that quickly.

    Is it May yet ?

So - let's see now. Beats the pants off the competition in the big open-wheel cars on pavement tracks of 1 mile or so. (OK, so we will see how he does on 1 and a half mile high-bank pavement in March at Homestead.)

Hello, IRL? Anyone over at 16th and Georgetown noticing this?!? You do see that you need to get him in a car for May at the speedway, right?!?

Unfortunately, the IRL can't produce enough cars for the drivers they have. It will be a contest at Homestead to see who has less, the IRL or the new USAC tobogans.

Upside down bathtubs, tobogans, uglymobile, bumper mobiles, fun house bumper cars, &)*@#^@ ugly pieces of *(&^$%, sled cars, CoT (USAC version 1.0), NASCAR's version of what an open-wheel race car should look like, etc., etc.

Anyone else have any others to add?

            I went to the race.
I did what I have never done before.
I left half way through the Silver crown race.
            Pathetic exercise in repulsiveness.
I litterally watched the wildfire across the street instead.
I have spent more time here than I did in school.

Damn, prell, that was depressing to read. I'll be at the next one at Homestead in March. I most definitely won't do what you did, however. The SC race is a preliminary to the Indy Car race later in the afternoon (03/26). So, I'll watch to see if I'm equally disgusted, and to look forward to the "real race" later.

Well, several drivers have indicated that the new crown cars are easier to drive then the old crown cars. So that should make Steele a legitimate IRL candidate now. The talent required for the winning he was doing before was unfamiliar to IRL owners but now they can relate.

It could be a three way tie right now between the ICS, IPS and USAC SC in terms of car count. I see 18 for the IRL and 18 for USAC right now most likely. The wild card is the Pro Series with quite a few confirmed entires already; more than any time in their short history this soon before the season starts.

I wouldn't throw the SilverCrown Series under the bus just yet. Remember how slow the Grand AmSeries started and look where it's at today...........

Ring, I think its apples and oranges here. When the DP field was just a handfull there were still 45-60 cars racing as there are other divisions racing them for overall.
Its not like we have SC races that also feature sprints and midgets same track same race....
As far as us throwing SC under the bus, I firmly beleive Rollie and Co. did that themselves!

'For the start of the 1971 "Marlboro Championship Trail," USAC decided to split up the championship divsion; thereby lessening the impact of the most beautiful cars ever built and raced. That was truly the beginning of the end. The best example: Al Unser's, Vel's Parnelli Jones, Johnny Lightning Special #2, from the 1970 season. Those who remember these cars must be wondering? What in the !@#$ are these 10 or 11 "trash-mobiles" they're running now??? 'Nice going, USAC!!!
