  • Resolutions for 2006

...uh, race related that is. Many of us resolve to lose weight, etc.

This past year I visited 4 new tracks for me. Kamp's Speedway near Boswell, IN, Virginia Motor Speedway near Saluda, VA, the indoor track at Du Quoin, and finally Columbus (Ohio) Motor Speedway.

I'd like to do that again this year, visit some new tracks that is. Still haven't been to the new Kokomo track yet, but with their getting a Sprint Week date, that will hopefully end. There are others, too. One of these years, I'm gonna kidnap Mr. Fishburger and a few others and head out West to Perris in November where we'll see some good racin' at a great looking track and meet some old and new friends.

And if possible I also resolve to read more this year. Santa has already provided me with a good start, namely the Bob Gates book about jim Hurtubise.

    And yours?

In 2005 even though my race attendance was down, I still got to two new tracks Watkins Glen and Black Rock. I'd like to get to a couple new tracks again.

In 2006 I want to get see a NASCAR Modified and a ISMA race (Jennerstown) I hope. I want to get to more local races and do less big touring series. I want to get my son to his first Sprint car race and get my wife back to the track again. I'd also really like to get back to Indy for Sprint Weeks again.

DavidM - The NASCAR modified schedule just came out. If possible, try to get to one of the two New Hampshire races. You will never forget it. The last one I went to a couple years ago had 30 official lead changes in 100 miles and at least 50 more around the track.

        For 2006:

-Keep my number of races again to a couple dozen or better.

-At least three Sprint week dates.

-A return to the Hoosier Hundred.

David, it would be great if you can come back out here. Round up taz, Littleman, and a few others and come to Indiana. I have quite a cast of characters for you guys to meet here.

One of those characters would be my grandson, who is 3 now and will be raring to go to the races soon.

Another resolution is for him to meet Jiggs Thomasson up at Gas City Speedway this year. And Dwight too, of course. Those guys would get along just fine, I'm sure.

I promised my wife I'd take her to her first sprint car race...

Need a list of guys you don't want her to meet at the track?

I will totally support small time short tracks, preferably dirt. I will probably watch more NASCAR on TV, and I will ABSOLUTELY ignore anything IRL, or IRL related...except when I happen to come upon a budding IRL fan, I will do my utmost to discourage them.

                  You got that right Danny
We'll look forward to it, and maybe by then you can take a spin in the Boyle Valve Spl

ps I was hoping you were gonna resolve to get the darn mail delivered on time. Us retired guys get paid that way you know.

I hope to do at least as well as last year in race attendance; I hope to get back to Winchester and Springfield in 2006.

I also hope (a perpetual racing wish) not to get rained out this year!

Hope to make it to more races than last year. Hope to make my first visit (long overdue) to Gas City. Hope to make most of Indiana Sprint week. Hope to reconnect with my TF buds and meet more at the track!
                      It really IS all good!

carl, I can only hope that Mr. grogg, Mr. Fishburger, Mr. itsanonwingthing, and even Mr. racefan20 will see this.

And you've given me an idea. I'll just retire and let the kids deliver the mail. (I wish.) 10 hour days.

Yes, ma'am. Gas City is a must! A hint: get there early.

I'd like to hit at least 10 new sprint car tracks, and get back to a few I haven't seen in a while
