    Gateway Racing, Inc. to crown Hess, Robinson and Siner Racing as 2005 Champions at their first annual banquet Nov. 4th.

    Gateway Racing, Inc. completed its first full season of the National Midget and 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprint Series. Mike Hess of Petersburg, IL competed in all eighteen National Midget Series events finishing in the top five a total of twelve times with one win at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, IL over USAC standout Dave Darland. This is Hess’ first ever National Midget Championship. Hess drove his familiar black #51 Buzzard/Esslinger sponsored by Petersburg Dairy Queen and utilizing his brother Bill’s 51h at times. Rounding out the top five in the National Midget Series Driver Standings were Steve Knepper of Belleville, IL , Tim Siner of Dupo, IL , 2005 Gateway Rookie of the Year –Brad Loyet of Sunset Hills, MO and Avon, Indiana’s Brad Kuhn.

    The Gateway Racing, Inc. National Midget Owner Championship went to long time car owner Jim Siner, Sr. maintaining the red #15 Stealth/Gaerte driven by his son Tim Siner. The Siner Racing team competed in seventeen of the eighteen GRI events with a lone win at the Southern Illinois Center in DuQuoin, IL. The Siner Racing team’s efforts were backed by George Weber Chevrolet – John Lanterman, Hoosier Tire Midwest and Bruce Leesman. Jim Siner, Sr. has owned midgets for over forty years and this is his first Championship. Rounding out the top five owner standings were 51 Hess Racing, 55 Walter Knepper, 05 Loyet Motorsports, and 11 Keith Anderson.

    Daniel Robinson of Wayne City, IL held off a hard charging Ryan Criswell to take the Gateway Racing 600cc Micro Sprint Championship. Robinson competed in all twelve GRI events and only failed to qualify for one feature event. Robinson driving the family owned black #24 scored six top five finishes including two runner up finishes, two thirds, a fourth and a fifth. Robinson took the point lead with two races remaining and held on for the championship. The first year of the micro series was very interesting with four of the top five finishers leading the points at some time in the season. Rounding out the top five were Ryan Criswell, Tyler Robbins of Collinsville, IL, Dustin Barks of Farmington, MO and Toney Roney of Herculaneum, MO.

    The banquet will be held Friday Nov. 4th at Andre’s banquet facility in St. Louis, MO. Honored at the banquet will be the top ten GRI National Midget drivers, owners and 600cc Micro Sprint drivers. They will all receive their trophies and point fund checks. Tickets are $25 each with open bar opening at 7:30 p.m., dinner at 8:00 p.m. with award ceremony to follow. All competitors and race fans are welcome to attend. Please come and join in on the fun.
