Just announced today which now makes it the highest paying sprint car race to win. Knoxville pays $150,000 to win but the total purse over 4 nights is still much higher. It will be interesting to see what additional cars this might attract.

This is long overdue, imho. The Kings Royal has become a huge event over the years and the winner's share has remained $50,000 since 1984.
BTW, I have a good ticket for sale for the Kings Royal. We don't travel for the full three, or this year four nights, but we never miss the Kings Royal. It may not pay as much as the Knoxville Nationals overall but it's a big payday for one night of big time auto racing! I hope this brings some of the teams to Eldora that prefer staying close to home.

HEAVILY debating going this year. It sure feels like the future of short track racing is a concentration of wealth (isn't that everything?) where a lot of small tracks are closing but the ones that stay open will be putting together big shows and having lots of talent travel in. Purses like this or the Canadian Short Track Nationals at Jukasa are getting massive, and massive purses mean good drivers.
