I know the Drinans are more technical, making them harder to adjust at the track. The Beast is straightforward. Adjustability is the key.

well the old style drinan is harder to tune to the track. the new 2003 aero car is so easy to setup and tune. you set it up using blocks like a beast but the only main tuning difference is the cockpit adjustments you can fine tume your car while the track changes. i have worked on the new drinan it is awsome danny is the only one out there with it and boob has thousands of cars out there all danny needs is some to drive and back the effort!!

It had better be good, to erase the memory of his last year's disastrous silver crown car. This guy should really get back to concentrating on the basics and quit trying to dazzle everybody with his brilliance, if he really wants to be in the race car building business...........

There are good reasons why there are lots of Beast cars out there and very few drinans......

yeah he does try to dazzle with new designs. the silver crown car is fast but danny trys to do everything himself. drive and engineer it seems like he gets a little confused. thats why i think he needs to have some money behind his cars and driver to point the things in the right direction. i have just heard he sold his one of a kind midget to a car owner the runs the winged stuff up north and the car was 2 tenths under the track record first time on the track but they had ignition problems that sidelined there day. i just wanna see something new out there and i think that new car is the way to go!!!

The Drinan cars have always seemed to be lacking in one area - DIRT. Seems the drivers of his cars needed to own another chassis(Beast, Stealth...) to be competitive on dirt. However his cars are awsome to watch on pavement.

As for his results in his cars; he tries too many trick and experimental changes at one time in an effort to develop his cars. Dane has done well in Drinans, but I think the last time he ran at IRP with Panther he was in a Beast Chassis.

I always enjoy seeing his cars and the efforts he takes to improve the sport. Danny needs to write a book about his life at some point.

Part of Drinan's problem is the number of his cars running. Beast has a large number of cars running. Therefore, there is more feedback used to further the developemnet. Drinan has to work with much less feedback, so developement is bound to be slower. When his cars are right, they are really fast.

I know the car didn't work out, but it was one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen! Wish I could have bought one just to park in my garage and look at! lol
                      It really IS all good!

Well, that and Bob has Steve Lewis's money behind his team. Just about any driver can jump into the #9 midget and run up front.
....Win on Sunday, sell on Monday...

I'd imagine those $38,000 motors help too.

As for Drinan, he's a lot like Jesse James of West Coast Choppers, he likes it his way...take it or leave it.

I helped build a Drinan in "99" and it took Danny's guys about an hour to do set-ups for IRP. It was too fast, but way too fickle.

IMHO, I consider Steve Lewis's team one of the worst things to happen to midget racing in years. They have been responible for the escalation in the cost of midget racing. With his connections through his racing manufacturing exibits, I doubt that he is spending all that much of his own money, but anyone that wants to win has to spend that much. If he is really spending all that much of his own money, he should be running an IRL team. Of course, then he probably could win the championship nearly every year. Like I said, just my opinion.

The potential problem I see with the Drinan is that Danny commits so much to make his cars aerodynamically clean, that they can't make much downforce on the front end. That may put them at a disadvantage handling-wise to the Beasts.
