  • 4-Crown crowd?

I just watched the 20-min highlights of the 3 features- pretty wild racing!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0Qx...layer_embedded

Would have loved to have been there. Kind of odd that the press reports on the race didn't even mention that Tracy Hines crashed out of either 1st or 2nd place on the last lap of both the Sprint and Silver mains in T4- you would think that might be worth a sentence or two!

anyway, I noticed there wasn't much of a crowd. Was it primarily due to weather this year, or has this event been going downhill as far as butts-in-the-seats?

Too bad, 'cause it looked like a helluva show.

Interesting. I go to the 4-Crown every year. I've only missed two in the last 24 years. This looked to be about the biggest crowd I've ever seen at the 4-Crown. The place has 20,000 seats. I would say that it was about 75% full. 15,000 fans isn't bad at all.

^^^Agreed. Only empty seats I saw on front straight were the cheap ones closer to the track. We did have plenty of room in turn three. Some folks reported having to park across the road, which is very rare for any USAC race. It was a bit chilly, but I've been a LOT colder at Eldora in the past.

What a great video, the Midget Show was so far,
was just outstanding... I am waiting for it to load
completely right now... I just can not understand
how, "Autocrossers",,, don't get it... These guys
learn to race, learn how to race in a "Pack",
learn how to race wheel to wheel, and learn
how to control horse power, control their tires,
and control their car... What a display of courage...

It's Just Great Stuff,,, What a Great Video,,,

Just got to view the whole video,,, it was outstanding...

Great news! The video was very deceiving since I guess they were only showing the lower seats that were pretty empty. Yeh, it wasn't making sense to me that the crowd wasn't there which is why I was asking.

Man that must have been some bad camera work you saw because there was an awful big crowd there Saturday night. I was surprised and pleased for Smoke and the crew

I've only been there once but those first few rows are to used only when there's no other possible place to sit Great place to sit if you want to see dust and the tops of race car haulers

I was as well. I was with my brother and nephew. We had seats in the main grandstand but my nephew couldn't see so we moved over to the 1st turn seats where the crowd was thin. I think I said something to the effect of Holy ....., that's a midget in a midget. LOL.

Have any of you guys been to Lawrenceburg to watch races. I am an hour away and thinking about going this weekend for UMP and USAC Sprints.

Do it. Lawrenceburg has on of the nicest facilities in the whole short track universe. Usac sprints put on a great show there and they are running for 10k to win this Saturday. Go, you won't regret it. I wish I were going.

A beautiful facility and usually a real RACEY joint. You'll really like it> We are running Waynesfield so I'll miss it. If your only 1 hour away I'd be there very frequently. ENJOY

                              1. Do go to Lawrenceburg.

                              2. Head for Section A near turn one and say hi to Fishburger, grogg and myself, among others. If not there roam through the pits.

                              3. Rico Abreu may be vertically challenged but he must have, as Mr. Hobbs would say, considerable attachments.
