Rahmer Plans To Retire After Season
    by NSSN Staff

Race fans who would like to get one last look at one of the best sprint car drivers of his time had better hurry.

Fred Rahmer plans to retire at the end of this season.

The Salfordville, Pa., driver has raced for more than 35 years and amassed more than 500 victories in sprint cars and modifieds

Rahmer, who drives for Rob Sell Motorsports, is 55 years old and enjoying a productive season with 42 straight top 10 runs, including 28 top fives and four victories.

Rahmer started his career racing modifieds and picked up 99 victories and seven track championships before moving on to sprint cars. Rahmer owns 417 sprint car victories and another 18 track championships.

He’s won seven World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series features and 24 UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions races and was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2009. Rahmer also owns 13 Pennsylvania Speedweek titles.

“It isn’t a big deal,” Rahmer told pennlive.com. “I had enough. The last two years running for CJB Motorsports was no fun.

“I came back this year to prove a point. I can still win and run as good as anybody. I’m not going out on their terms. I’m going out on my terms.

“I had no desire for this. They didn’t throw a party for me when I came in, and they sure as hell don’t need one when I leave. All I wanted to do was race until the last race and go away and say nothing.”

I doubt anyone will ever match his record of 168 Sprint Car win at Lincoln Speedway.

Fast Freddie at the "Pigeon Hills".

And as of 7/18 he's leading the 410 points at Lincoln by 230 over second runner Brent Marks (former 600 micro driver btw).

      Going out on top maybe?

      Another beautiful pic David.

One of the guys that have made Pennsylvania motorsports a legend nationwide. Best wishes to Freddie in his retirement.

My question is, who will wear the black hat once he's gone? At Lincoln he gets booed when introduced and cheered when he crashes out. Tough crowd.

He is a real racer, I'm sorry to see him hanging it up!
I was lucky enough to see him race several times and he was a fast shoe, for sure!
              Have a very blessed day!
