But not for me! Of five classes set to run(we had Super Late Models joining us tonight), only two failed to run before the rain came. B-Mods were first up tonight, so I missed it by a mile.
the night began with a memorial to Mr. Zimmerman, who was murdered a few days ago in his home. The suspect turned himself in and proved to be quite an idiot - his motive was, as expected, related to the happenings in Florida, and he apparently did not understand the idea of people with the same last name being unrelated(this was not kid, either - he was 48). Reportedly, after confessing and giving his motive, he attempted to walk out to "continue bringing justice," and was confused as all hell when he was arrested.
Mr. Zimmerman's family will be keeping his car - his nephew is racing street stocks at a track east of us and will soon use the car to run in late models(he is currently smashing the points in street stock for the third straight year at his track, I am told).
With that out of the way, on to the racing:
Because of threatening weather we were only given a five-minute intermission, which was not helpful after suffering several cylinder failures during my heat race. We traced the problem to three bad plug wires which were were JUST able to replace by feature time. I did not score any heat race points - heat race points go down to 6th place, I finished 7th(of 7).
A caution-free feature allowed me to keep my focus and get from 13th up to 5th, with the current points leader taking the feature win. I have slipped back to 4th place in points.
Next week is the big A-Mod show. I was not originally planning to race my B-Mod on the same night, but due to the tightness of the points, I will be attempting to do so. As I noted last week, I will be driving the defending A-Mod champion's second car for this event, so I will have good equipment.
