  • Your Most Anticipated race of 2011

This was asked on the Grove site a couple weeks ago, so I thought I'd ask it here too.

What short track race/races are you most looking forward to in 2011?

I always very much look forward to my annual trip out to Indiana. Likely will be for Midget Week again this year. Midgets and Sprints on the same card each night is hard to beat. Hard to pick a favorite between Bloomington and Kokomo, I'll call it a tie.

Locally it's USAC's Eastern Swing at Lincoln and I'm also going to try and make Port Royal too. The Port is the fastest track in Central PA and should be a good race venue.

I know you stated "short track", and if expanded to include "dirt track", then put me down for the Hoosier Hundred.

Otherwise, WoO at Volusia Speedway Park was a great show last month, ditto for USAC at Ocala Speedway - both were good events .

Well, I'm hoping to make the USAC Midgets & Silver Crowns plus ARCA on Thursday night before the Brickyard. Maybe even the Trucks, Nationwide, and Brickyard. Credentials aren't a problem, I don't believe. Travel expenses are.

The USAC Bettenhausen 100 in Springfield is always one of my favorite events of the summer.

I'm also really looking forward to the WoO Spring Classic at I-55 in Pevely, MO on 4/16.

I'm a little biased this year.

My most anticipated race of 2011 will be my son taking the green flag for the first time in a 600cc winged Micro Sprint. Date TBD

didn't make it to lawrenceburg last year, just got busy with life i guess? so i'll say that is what i am most looking forward to this year.

i used to really like the usac double header at salem, it appears to be sprints only again this year .... but i'm gonna go anyway.

                There ya go....winner!

Im looking forward to the Hulman 100. and that asphalt race they run 2 days later nearby. Of course I have been expecting gas to be over $3 for that trip but if it goes closer to $5 I just dont know....

After May, I dunno- I really hope the local track gets going again. Theyve been closed for two years and new owner has had delays due to family issues
HE keeps saying it will open but theres no schedule yet. Not much news released so I dont know when they open.

Maybe a trip to North Wilkesboro.

Id love to take a long weekend and visit Gettysburg, Williams Grove & New Egypt Speedway but it goes back to the how high does gas go problem.

1500 mile round trip drives could be a little pricey this Summer

I really love going to Springfield for the Silver Crown race. Typically I go to Macon for midgets on Friday and then to both state fair races. I'd also have to say the Hut 100 and Little 500 are pretty high on the list as well for the year.

March 19, we hope. Opening night for sprints with this happening at Twin Cities Raceway Park. April 1-2 at the same track, a tribute to the late Jesse Hockett. June 8, opening night of Indiana Midget Week at Gas City. July 8, opening night of Indiana Sprint Week, again at Gas City. August 6 , winged and non-wing sprints on the high banks of Salem. August 20, either Lincoln Park or Lawrenceburg, I don't care. Earlier that day, according to my schedule, that is the last day that I carry mail for a living. Labor Day Sunday, take grandsons to Kokomo. September 10 USAC at Terre Haute. September 24, the 4 Crown at Eldora. October 1, USAC/MSCS at Lawrenceburg.

Ending up, we hope with that Fishburger guy and me going to Perris, CA on the train, for USAC/CRA sprints and bench racing with that carl s fellow.

Hopefully, opening day at Nashville Fairgrounds, whenever that winds up being.

                        Little 500.

Assuming it's still non-wing (NSSN listed it as part of the Must See Xtreme schedule with no "Special Event" [i.e. non-points] listing, so I'm a little worried on that front).
Some fans claim one series or another runs "real race cars." What's everybody else running, fake race cars?

Hairpin, the Little 500 was also a part of the Must See Series last year as well and was still non wing. I really doubt they mess with the forumla because they're still getting a lot of fans and cars show up.

My favorite time of the year is when Indiana Sprintweek and Midget Week rolls around, and I definitely can't wait for them.

However, the one single event I am most looking forward to in 2011 is the Milwaukee Mile weekend in June with USAC Midgets, Silver Crown, Indy Lights, Star Mazda, USF2000, and the Indy Car Series. Never seen a race there before, but have walked around the track. So, this is a new experience for me.
