Sad news from the ARCA website:
William Gillelan, long-time car owner for the legendary Joy Fair, passed away December 8, 2010. He had been ill for some time.
"Gilly", as he was known to his friends and competitors, teamed with Russ Wainscott and their driver, Fair, and amassed an astounding list of victories and track championships throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and much of the Midwest. Included in that list are 10 Flat Rock Speedway titles and 7 Toledo Speedway track championships. From 1969 to 1972, the duo captured the Late Model championships at both ARCA-sanctioned tracks and compiled over 500 career feature wins with the familiar school bus yellow' number 1. The group also won the inaugural Glass City 200 at Toledo in 1968.
Services are pending.
Godspeed, Gilly.
