“Our association with CART and the Champ Car World Series has been very successful in Mexico, the United States and throughout North America,” said Minardi, the senior Bridgestone representative in Mexico City with executive director of Bridgestone motorsports Al Speyer and others in Suzuka for a Bridgestone/Firestone summit at the Japanese Grand Prix.
“When we began this process (of buying CART), the first sponsor we talked to was Bridgestone,” said Kalkhoven. “They are very, very key for the series and we were absolutely delighted to find their enthusiasm for the series is strong this year and in the future.”
“We fully intend on continuing to CART in at least the same stature it has this year,” said Robinson. “At this moment the details are under negotiation, but we fully expect to continue our association with the Champ Car series next year and in the future.”
