    An impactor of that size wouldn't be an extinction-level deal, but it would be enough to wipe a large city from the face of the earth. If the article is correct about its size and velocity, it's at least the size of the one that formed Meteor Crater/Barringer Crater in Arizona, and going about 10,000 MPH faster. The Arizona impact IIRC was in the 10-15 megaton range, about the size of the Castle Bravo hydrogen bomb and a few of our larger subsequent warheads; given the much higher mass and speed, this one would have been a lot more powerful.
