How many races does Champ Car promote?
Man to Man is so unjust... there's no Man you can Trust.

Long Beach and Toronto for sure, as KK bought those two in the last year. I think they have some role in Denver, but I know Sutton/Centrix promote the race.

I believe the list is Long Beach, Toronto, and some (maybe all?) of Portland. Denver and Cleveland were recently relinqueshed to Centrix and MiJack.

I believe San Jose is promoted by the Canary Fund / whatever they name it today foundation.

The only thing we know for sure is that San Jose is NOT promoted by Canary Fund.

San Jose Grand Prix is still promoted by Don Listwin, the Principal of Canary Foundation (formerly known as the Canary Fund), a non-profit charity. Last years race was officially promoted by Canary Enterprises, LLC., a for profit company owned by Don Listwin setup to promote the race, so the Canary Fund does not violate any IRS tax-exempt rules.

Since there was a lot of confusion last year that caused people to think that the Canary Fund was the promoter of the race, Canary Enterprises, LLC changed its name to San Jose Open Wheel, LLC. Same Principal, Don Listwin, just a different company name.

Here's an article that quotes Don Listwin, as the promoter, when addressing the concerns that the displaced San Jose residents brought before the San Jose City Council. Also, if you look at the San Jose Grand Prix and Canary Foundation websites, it still prominately features each other.

              posted on sfgate.com

It's the brainchild of Don Listwin, a former high-tech executive who hit on the idea of using the car race -- and the wealthy fans he hopes to attract -- to raise money for research in early cancer detection after this mother died of ovarian cancer. While the race isn't expected to make money the first few years, any profits as well donations that Listwin plans to raise from tech tycoons will go his Canary Fund charity.

Race promoters are offering to put affected residents up in a local hotel for three days. "We want to accommodate the residents in the best way that we can,'' Listwin said.

Any proof of this? Your link is two years old and statements made to the SJ City Council seem to indicate something else.

I'm surprised the Mexico races haven't been mentioned. True, GF doesn't own them out right, but nobody races down there unless GF gives the 'ok'.

MC definitely got some improvements made with GF funds; not so sure about Monterrey. I think the refurbished Fundidora was constructed from government and (local) private funds.

So we should make the Grand Canyon-sized leap that because we are not sure, ... Chamcar is in fact the promoter.

Seems plausible. In docs filed with the SJ City Council it was pretty clear that Canary Fund/Canary Enterprises had suborned their rights to another organization. Now, if Canary isn't promoting - who is?

Houston and Cleveland are Mi-Jack. LB and Toronto are Kalkhoven. Centrix owns Denver. Everything else is independent of the series.

Sorry, San Jose has a loose tie to the series, too.

The three guys formed Open Wheel Racing Series LLC to buy the assets of CART.

The entity/promoter asking for money from the San Jose city council is San Jose Open Wheel Racing LLC with Listwin named as running it. I don't think its too much of a stretch of the imagination to say KK and GF are major players in SJOWR LLC.

Isn't it stated on the docs? It surprises me that you didn't keep reading.
