I gotta admidt, this guy sounds a little lost at times in the article but the 'fit' does seem to make sense. Personaly, I haven't witnessed CASCAR piloting the road courses, but from everything I've heard and seen on the tube, they put on a great show.
I've seen them at the Toronto CC race. Not a bad show if you enjoy watching oversized race cars banging off concrete barriers. The Edmundton track would be better suited for them I have a feeling.
CASCAR used to have a race at the same airport in Edmonton, actually. Different track.
It's more of a "rubbin' is racin'" kind of series, they do a lot of little ovals around Canada, as well as races at Mosport (oval and road course) and obviously the Toronto Molson Indy.
I've found them to be really entertaining, they're pretty pokey cars, but close races and not afraid to bump each other. The fans seem to appreciate it too.
I was told specifically by Edmonton organizers that Cascar was persona non grata for '05. They were prohibited by Champcar from racing. There was some question about them tearing up the new pavement, now that it had chance to cure, maybe it would be ok.
The do need more support races, especially without the TransAm. Last year they filled the TA field with Cascars anyways.
Asked how he’d like to be remembered were he hit by a bus tomorrow, Tracy doesn’t hesitate: “I’m a race-car driver. At the last second, I’d swerve and avoid the bus.”
Seems like one time I saw a Cascar race from Toronto, or Vancouver, and the guy who won, or finished up front anyway, started at the tail and raced his way up. Looked pretty entertaining on tv...
