  • Fernandez and Lowes

Lowes could easily afford to not only sponsor Fernandez in G/A and Busch but his Indycar program too.

Motorsports coverage includes news, highlights, rankings and more spanning NASCAR, Formula 1, NHRA, ARCA, MotoGP, IndyCar and more auto racing circuits.

Yes, but like Tecate and Telmex figured out hispanics do not watch or like the IRL. So they could pony up a few millions, but why?

On the surface the Rolex is a all-star endurance race where drivers and teams come from all walks of racing life to try their hand. On the surface.

Under the surface it is a slick convention meet and greet between NASCAR, their devoted corporate partners (Suntrust, Lowes, etc), and desired participants from other series (Fernandez, Danica, etc). IROC has served the same purpose, this is the IROC model on a broader scale.

IMO if Fernandez walked away from Daytona with not only a Grand Am/Busch sponsorship but a Indycar package too then no issue would exist. Yes one can argue that the ROI in Indycar is questionable, but I would argue that the ROI in Grand Am is even more so.

IRL's pocket is being picked. Does anyone mind?

Wild speculation based on nothing but gut instinct and years of motorsports observation; Before the Rolex checkered flag flies Danica Patrick is going to be offered a contract that would make any driver's head spin. NASCAR lost the entire month of May 2005 to Ms Patrick and the IRL, they most likely don't want that to continue.

Quit getting peoples hopes up and smearing some facts.

One, LOWES is NOT apart of the IRL, not the series OR the IRL team.
Secondly, this is a GA relationship created from Adrians NASCAR Busch effort, not the IRL.

Easily afford? Lowes could easily afford a GA package, not a BUSCH or IRL effort.

What exactly are you reading Bruce when you add comments to media reports that have NOTHING to do with the IRL?

Correction noted on Lowes and Busch, insistance that Lowes couldn't afford sponsorship for Fernandez in IRL is silly.

Maybe we will see Adrian in a Lowe's entry for Indy? Not to start any rumors or anything.

Maybe they didn't get the JJ reports?

Lowes should do an Indy one off, why not? All the leg work is done, the car is there and so is the team, so why didn't they? Hell by doing that, maybe Home Depot would sit up and try and stick Stewart in a one off.

As I was saying on Lowes-

If they we're going to do a one off, THAT would have been the time to announce it and I'll I heard was GA and how excited Adrian is to get going in GA.

Wow, the Hispanic population in Indianapolis loves the IRL. Heck I remember at the Chicago race, Mexico flags being waived everywhere when Ferendez won.
Hispanics love anything America. I seriously doubt they would know the difference if Pro Series cars were racing in Mexico City. You sound like Gerry Forshye at the bankruptcey hearings.
Please provide links that Tecate and Telemex said Hispanics don't like the IRL. Cause it look like they didn't like champ car either, because Adrian had the visit Mexico signage on his car when he was testing in champcar.

                    Nice try there pal

Tecate and Telmex bolted faster then any company in recent history in a switch and now Adrian is reduced to slinging a GA car around. As an Adrian fan, its pretty sad to see him fall so far.

Who needs a link, don't you follow along?

Adrian follows Honda to the IRL, IMMIDIATLY all sponsors jet. Why do you need a link for that.............. pal?

They were long on their way out. If it was the move to the IRL that made them leave why did they not go back to Champ Car. The companies were having a shortage of founds.

No not a shortage of funds, they just wanted to race where the majority of their customers were....

Man, Evil Kenevil couldn't make that leap.

I'm sure Lowes could afford to sponsor a lot of cars, but yet they don't. Their involvement seems limited to the ISC-related series. I'd be surprised if they have any presence in the IRL...ever.

It would be smart for Lowe's to be at Indy this year because the current NASCAR champ is going to get lots and lots of TV time for Home Depot at the 600, even though its the Lowe's motor speedway. Getting another 4 hours of TV can be a good thing. But smart things don't always happen.

The real winner in all this is Grand/Am a NASCAR company. They are getting the drivers into this camp and away from the fractious Cane and Abel's of open wheel.

Who said 2 minuses aren't a plus. NASCAR thinks so!
