I knew they had a bunch of cars on order but I didn't expect this:

More than 30 of the new Atlantic cars are expected for the season finale which will now take place at Road America.

30 cars of these new cars on the track! That is HUGE! Say, how many have been delivered so far? And how has testing gone, I haven't seen any times.

How will the size of the Atlantics field compare to IPS next year?

Atlantics often drew 45+ car fields in the late 1980's period but compared to the recient pathetic 12 car grids this is an improvement. I think that the new pro atlantic rules being incompatable with club atlantic is a big mistake for the long term health of the series. My guess would be that pro atlantic will be back to 12 car fields in five years when CC is done milking it.

I don't know but I will say I don't expect Indy Lights 'nee IPS to put 'more than 30 cars on the track'. I am frankly a bit surprised that CC would make such a brave statement in an official announcement. I knew that there was talk of huge orders for the new Atlantics cars but my understanding was that many of them were contingent on financing and sponsorship but the powers that be at CC must have some solid information. They must know the cars will be ready and delivered and the teams will take them and run them or they couldn't make such an early announcement.

It turned into an announcement the same way BB's estimation of cars did in 04!

Indy Lights WILL have a "Title Sponsor".....just not at liberty to divulge at present. They've had someone wanting to take over for Menard the last 2 yrs, but now that Menard has NOTHING to do with the IPS/Indy Lights, we can get on with business.
