  • Which Series will take Suzuka?

It's traditionally been one of the best stops on the F1 circuit. Looks like come 2007 the track will be wide open for a new 'top-class' form of OW racing to take over. The interesting thing is that Kalkoven wants to be in the far East and has seemingly not been able to wrap up a solid date. All the while you have Honda - which looks to be the sole supplier of power units to the IRL for the next few years who's parent division actually owns the circuit.

I can see the benefit for both to go after this.

Who ever wins it's Bernie's and F1's loss... Man it's amazying how that series continues to shoot itself in the foot.

Some people are like a Slinky .... Not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile
when you shove them down the stairs.

The silliest part of the entire thing is that it seems no one has thought of having the Japanese Grand Prix at one circuit and the Asian Grand Prix at the other. Both are absolutely magnificient, and there is no worry that one will draw fans from the other. They will pack both circuits no matter if they were on the same weekend.

To waste either of them is a shame, but at least we are getting a revitalized Fuji out of the deal. Personally I think Suzuka is probably a more interesting circuit, but Fuji has it's own challenges and is an all time classic. It's sure better than axing Suzuka and then adding another Hungbororing.

Np Suzuka in 2007 [chris from family guy] Wuuuuhhaaattt [/chris from family guy]
"Ninety-two years ago [the Indy 500] was probably like any other race," said 2005 winner Dan Wheldon. "But over time it's just created so many storylines and history for people of our generation that now it's just massive. People value that history and tradition and you just can't take that away."

I don't know. I've been telling my friend that CC should be racing at Mt. Fuji for 2 years now. Suzuka has just never done it for me. Although, I agree, it's a top-notch, world-class racing facility. Hopefully both get used in 2007.

I was hoping it would be Suzuka and Mount Fuji.

Either way Japan will still be on the F1 calendar with a sweet circuit.

Bob Varsha mentioned exactly that idea at least once this year. With so many European races on such unsteady footing it wouldn't be difficult to see it happen.

              Great minds often think alike.

IIRC correctly, the blood monjey companies are allowed free advertising rights in Japan. Since that series lives off the cigarette money it really is easy to imagine. I'de hate for it to happen for those reasons when it's just as good a cause to have two great races, but I'll take it to get Fuji and Suzuka.
