Tony George: The Secret To Racing Success Is Here!
It's way more important to watch on TV than go to the track, at least from a survival perspective. TV ratings = income, look at the multi-million dollar TV income NASCAR generates as compared to the IRL, and the air time Champ Car has to buy for any exposure. So how does this happen?
You need more than 18 or 22 cars to start. You need more than 14 or 15 races a year. You need more drivers that have the ability to capture the imagination of the public. And finally, you need to have a competitive racing product on the track. Not one or two teams dominating the series year after year. But good teams with recognizable drivers that have a shot of winning, or at the least contending, at every race.
