  • 2006 IRL Race Sponsors

Sure looks like a lot of questions concerning race sponsors for 2006, based on the respective track's information. If the tracks aren’t even listing these events yet, what does that say about the ability to attract sponsors?

          Legitimate thread,legitimate topic.

Will we now see an end to the whining when Jim et al start a similar thread?

Or is this just rubbing someone's nose in it?

How many races weren't sponsored by a 1. Engine company, 2. Firestone, 3. Team sponsor?

I think all of CC race sponsors were outisde companies.

So one race has a sponsor for next year?

But you left off the 3 dropped races. That's another 3 less.

Maybe they plan to announce all of them with the 2007 spec announcement.

By my count, there are 3 additional races that already have sponsors lined up. Typically, unless it is a multi-year deal, many IRL events don't get sponsors until a month or so out.

Yet it's a major indicator of doom if this happens in ChampCar?

I wasn't discussing ChampCar or implying that this is a good thing for the ICS. It is nice that half of the races are already locked in, but it needs to be closer to 90%. Unfortunately, many times, the sponsor comes a few weeks out and then doesn't realize the full value because there wasn't enough time to promote.

Having paying race title sponsors is good no matter which series.

I can't say for sure, but to me it looks like a little of both.

And it's happened to Champ Car too.

I thought EVERY 2005 race had an entitlement sponsor. My recollection is that is the first time in IRL history that's happened.

Stole our country from the Indians

We took it for our own!
